Programming and Outreach Librarian

Full Time, salaried position, to begin after July 1.
Responsibilities: oversight of system-wide educational and literacy programs, and representing the Library System at community events and in underserved communities.
Location: library administrative offices, library branches, and partner locations; some remote work may be possible.

Minimum qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies from an ALA-Accredited institution.
Georgia Librarian License grade 5B or higher, or ability to obtain upon hire.

Valid Georgia driver’s license or ability to obtain upon hire, with acceptable 3-year Motor Vehicle Report.

Successful completion of Criminal Background check

Three years of progressively responsible employment in a public library setting.

Spanish language skills a plus

A combination of education and experience may be considered

Summer Program Aide

Part-time, temporary positions available at the McDonough, Cochran, Fortson and Locust Grove libraries.

Duties include but not limited to:  assisting with children’s programs, setting up and breaking down rooms for programs and classes, shelving books, and assisting with general library tasks as needed. No library experience required. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, or be currently enrolled in high school. Apply in person at the branches listed above.

Responsibilities and Qualifications


Library Assistant, Part-Time
Multiple openings: Fairview, Hampton, Locust Grove

Responsibilities: assist library users with locating and using library resources and equipment in person, by phone, and by email. Check materials in and out, register new library users, and shelve books in proper order. Assist with library programs as needed. Provide general assistance to all library visitors. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications: Associate Degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Two or more years of public contact work in customer service or related fields. Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and general knowledge of literature. Basic knowledge of computers and office equipment. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
