Library Director

The next executive director of the HenryCounty Public Library System, which consists of five branches, needs to embrace the future, yet respect the past. The successful candidate must be an energetic and visionary leader, be an ambassador, not just for the library but also for education, lifelong learning, and literacy in the community. The Library Board seeks a progressive, collaborative team-builder who is an experienced and committed professional with proven management and administrative skills. The successful candidate should also be knowledgeable about current and emerging trends and best practices in public library service, and embrace the rapid technology changes occurring in today’s public libraries.

The Library Director performs professional and administrative duties in the planning, development, implementation and direction of public library services for the Henry County Public Library System. The Director will be committed to maintaining and improving the existing high level of customer service, community outreach, and programs and services, as well as ensuring the future of the Library as a vibrant center for the community. In addition to the resume and reference, the cover letter shall include responses to the following three questions:

1. Where do you see the future of libraries in the next ten years and what role will technology play?
2. What challenges face community libraries (serving populations over 200,000)?
3. What would be your priorities if you were given the opportunity to be the Director of the Henry County Public Library System?

Assistant Branch Manager

Due to retirements and relocations, Henry County Library System has 3 Assistant Branch Manager positions available.  If you are interested in working in a dynamic growing system, and in a place that supports your professional development--THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! 

Under the direction of the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager performs circulation and patron registration tasks, does reference work, helps patrons with various technology issues, helps maintain order in the facility, and develops and presents programs and events.

Qualifications:

Must have a Master of Library and Information Science degree.

Three or more years of public contact work prior to receiving or after receiving the degree.
